I believe the claws in both hands have something to do with how the models flip across the Y axis when turning the other way. It's a trend Capcom started with their recent fighting games (Street Fighter 4, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3), most likely to mirror how 2D sprites are, but with 3D models.
It was likely done to make the flipping less awkward with him, where his claw won't magically switch sides.
Take a look at Spencer in MvC3 to see what I'm talking about; when he turns around, his Bionic Arm switches to his other arm.

Hmm, maybe. He does spawn with claws on both hands and pulls of his x-ray move with both as well. I just think it was easier for them to make it look badass with claws on both hands, which made it less true to character.

I think he had two claws in the remake, which seems to be the version of Freddy they're using here. Well, if Freddy's going to be in it, then I hope Jason follows shortly. They're both owned and distributed by the same company, so I can't imagine that would be any sort of issue.

Yeah, I don't recall, Salvy Mic. I saw that in the theaters and I didn't think it was bad. I actually liked the Friday the 13th reboot a lot, although it got shitty reviews. I do think if Freddy had two claws in the new movie though, I would have noticed and bitched. LOL

I think in the Mortal Kombat storyline, it's mentioned that after Shao Khan expelled Freddy from his nightmares, Freddy made himself a second claw in order to defeat him. At least, that's the storyline reason. I think somebody already mentioned that the developers didn't want one of his hands to be stronger than the other, therefore, two claws.

You guys are so lucky for some fucked up reason they have banned Mortal Kombat in Australia.It is by far my favourite fighting game. I like the new Mortal Kombat rebirth series aswell its done really well of how there stories come together.
