Is it just me or is it hard to believe this decade is almost over in a matter of weeks.

The speed has to do with your age I believe as it is relative to how old you are. For a child of 5 years old the passage of 1 year is 1/5 of his entire life. Contrast that to a 50 year old where 10 years would be 1/5 of his entire life. One year for someone of 50 would seem to fly by quickly, yet for the 5 year old it would feel almost like a lifetime.
