I thought I'd try my hand at creating an epic thread [Laugh]

...I just watched the movie Fighting with Channing Tatum and Terrance Howard the other day.

It was truly one of the most painful experiences I've ever forced upon myself.

The acting was bad. The music was bad. The story..oh don't get me started on the storyline. Some of the fight scenes were kinda cool. But the plot made about as much sense as tits on a bull.

Worst. Movie. Recently. [Tongue]

WORST. MOVIE. EVER!

If we're talking so bad it's still bad, then I'd say Adam Sandler's "Bulletproof", Jet Li's "Black Mask", or Joe Pesci/Danny Glover in "Gone Fishing"

If we're talking so bad it's good, then "Battlefield Earth" and "Night of the Lepus"

That's my two cents. [Cheers]

my date with the presidents daughter.

*shoots television*

its so bad, and they play it every school holidays - my brother and i turned it into a kind of tradition to watch it together whenever it was on. its utter shite and i can pretty much recite it verbatim

I watched "Life Stinks" by Mel Brooks recently. It was on TV and I decided to give it a chance because I love Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles.

It was excruciating!

"Miracle Mile" (1988) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097889/

Plot sucked, acting was even worse and I fought every part of my being from turning it off in hopes it would get better ... with no luck. [Cry]

Most video game movies, and me being a gamer, it's especially painful when my favorite franchises get butchered. Street Fighter was watchable only for the opportunity to see the great Raul Julia do the damn thing for the last time. I absolutely hated the Resident Evil movies, much more galling because I love the games so much.

I also think The Wash is a heaping load of ass, and I abhorred Delta Force 2.

Now, as far as bad movies that are so bad they're good, we're talking movies like Commando, Delta Force 1 (Lee Motherfuckin' Marvin and Chuck Motherfuckin' Norris!!!), Mortal Kombat (only the first one), and the majority of Friday the 13th movies.

I'm going way back to the early 1980s when I remember walking out of this movie which the title alone should have given us a clue....

"The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak"

 -

What was so funny was my mom took my little brother, sister, and myself to watch it. She had no idea that it was almost a soft core rated "R" porn! You didn't know from the previews as she thought it was just a Indian Jones type of action movie. I think we left 20 minutes into it when the tits and ass started flashing all over the place.

Erm...thank God my brain is starting to block it out...I can't remember the title of it.

Was one of recent years, the Dwayne - the Rock - Johnson and Sarah Michelle Geller were in it and it was a really obscure film about civil rights being violated and marshal law and stuff...it was AWFUL.

It could have been dealt with in the non-obscure way and I would have absolutely loved the film, but the post-modern feel to it just made it confusing and a bit farcical when they're actually trying to get a real message across...

Miami Vice was pretty dire too.

I so have to see this movie now..the concept sounds positively captivating, even though I'm taking your word for it as a terribad movie.

Andy-Laa, I loved Miami Vice. footjoyboy, Close Encounters is a classic! What's wrong with you people!! [Thud]

Mine would have to be this movie I'm forced to watch with my daughter. Can't think of the name of it, but it stars Lindsey Lohan as a little girl, and Tyra Banks as a barbie doll that comes to life and befriends her. Brutal!

That really is the worst movie of the last, say, thirty years. But it's not recently seen, so it's not my answer.

I think, as far as buildup-to-disappointment ratio, I'd say that "The Strangers" is the worst movie I've seen recently. Huge fucking disappointment. Not scary enough, not gory enough, and made no fucking sense because they never explained shit about what was going on.

In a similar way (and I saw it around the same time) I was very disappointed with "Funny Games," which was demented, sure, but (don't want to give you spoilers) the ending displeased me greatly.

Shit, I remember that there's a movie I saw in the last few weeks which, at the end, I said out loud to myself, "That fuckin' sucked!" but for the life of me I can't even remember what it was! (That's probably for the best.) But it was likely a library movie so at least I didn't have to spend money on it, whatever it was.

No catharsis was the ENTIRE point of Funny Games, US! You were supposed to feel that way!

Posted by Pjay (Member # 35692) on :

That may well be the case; but I didn't like being made to feel that way. I wanted those fuckers DEAD.

Posted by -cfg- (Member # 13863) on :

That's certainly fair man. I didn't like the feeling either, but I really appreciated how different the ending was compared to the usual happy/sappy ending. [Cheers]

Recently: Balls of Fury. Can it still be called a "comedy" if i didnt laugh once?

Ever: House of the Dead. A Uwe Boll "masterpiece' that was supposed to be based on the popular arcade game. Its was so bad that actually laughed more at it than i did during balls of fury.

Recently: Knowing. It was terrible. Started out brilliant though, but the last quarter was downright terrible and ruined the whole thing.

Ever: Napleon Dynamite. I'm not American so maybe I dont get it. But it was deadpan, boring, monotonous. I normally find merit in all films but this had no redeeming qualities at all.

and i watched that Hannah Montana film with a friend. i was 22 at the time and i really hate poor films, but for some reason it just had a nice feel to it. heh and i don't normally like US films too.

A few times. I find it to be a most peculiar and mostly enjoyable little cultural artifact. I first caught it randomly on TV, drawn in by the title, having never heard of it before, and I was immediately struck by how "Pynchonian" the whole thing seemed.

A good point, but in my opinion (for whatever that's worth) the best game to worst movie adaptation ever was "Bloodrayne". Any game which includes endless bullet-time/sniper vision/frequent and gratuitous dismemberment of Nazis/ and unapologetic T&A deserves a better treatment than what Uwe Boll gave it a few years back. At least I got to see Kristanna Loken's tits.

I went to see District 9 on the weekend and it was by far one of the worst movies ever. I wanted to leave 10 minutes in but thought I would give it a bit more.

20 minutes in, I thought, why is no one else leaving? They must know something I don't

45 minutes in, Seriously, is this a joke? Then I thought, ok, I have 45 minutes in and now I am emotionally invested to find out what happens.

2 hours in.....Lost 2 hours of my life I will never get back.

I could have been taking photos for you all.

I loved that movie. All of the social and political implications mixed in with human nature. It spoke volumes on human history and what we could expect if we don't right our ways.

As for a sci fi movie.....not so good, but great as reminder that we are all human and we need to treat each other better.

A bit ironic that the movie was set in johannesburg, the home of Aparthied that only ended less than two decades ago. The same Africans that had these atrocties committed against one another were doomed to repeat it against the "alien" race that happened upon them. That was just one bit I picked up. The story line was fairly lame, it was the subtleties about the way we treat one another that I enjoyed. One of the more thought provoking movies i've seen with all of the immigration hoopla in the news. It said alot about us as humans and they were'nt very flattering about it, which stimulates growth...but of course this was IMHO.

I´m really looking forward to watching it...I´ve read so many good reviews. A socio-critical sci-fi movie from South Africa....WOW!

This was the worst movie I´ve ever watched:

I've debated District 9 with a few people now and I think I can shed some light as to why I felt it was the worst movie I have ever seen.
1. When I arrived, I wanted to see Final Destination in 3D, I was talked out of it by my friends and we ended up seeing District 9.
2. My friends wanted to sit in the middle row, in the middle column, which for me is a No/No because of the chance of other people sitting beside me blocking me in. Which of course happened which made me uncomfortable for the 2 hours. I couldn't get up and use the washroom.
3. I couldn't have butter on my popcorn because of my stupid diet.
4. I was expecting to see a film that was more like Independence Day and not a film like Cloverfield (Which I liked because I knew what to expect prior to seeing it).

There you have it, I guess I just wasn't in the right mind set to see the film. When your expecting Independence Day and get Cloverfield meets E.T. and considering everything that happened prior to the start of the film, you just have to know it's going to be a bad movie experience.

Here are some of the movies I haven't liked all that much:

- The Grudge
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
- Hulk (not the new one)
- Unborn
- Drag Me To Hell
- Jason Goes To Hell (Even Jason X was way better)
- Immortal
