I'm going out for a local community theater production of a show called "Urinetown The Musical". Anyone ever hear of it? It's VERY funny.

Yes it was actually in my town sometime last year. Never went to see it but obviously the title stuck in my head.

Lol, yeah, kinda hard to forget a title like "Urinetown" haha.
Anywho, I got a part: I'm Cladwell, the villian.

The villain parts are always the best. You can go a little more "over the top" and the parts are the most fun. Good luck with it.
I've been away from the theater for a long time. Kinda miss it. Then again, I'm "on stage" often enough.

I've got this great song late in the first act called "Don't Be The Bunny". It is such a fun song to sing, because it's just so twisted & clever. I'm really liking this show so far.

Glad you got the part and that it is so fun. I'll have to look up the song.
Break a leg!

Just to give ya guys an update, the show's coming along relatively well, we're having problems with people keeping up with the "Act One Finale"'s breakneck-speed tempo, but, hey, we still got a few weeks left lol.

If "YSU" is the one I think it is, then I work in your area. Haven't seen any news on the play. How's it going...or how did it go?
Posted by YSUfan17 (Member # 26509) on :
No, YSU is where I USED to go lol. I don't live in that area anymore, unfortunately. We open in 2 weeks & I think it's actually gonna come together lol.

Guess I'm going to miss that opening, then. Actually, I don't live in the area, either. I have to drive out of N.W. Pa. to get to work. Have a couple of music majors as students from the college. Like the job, hate the commute. In the area where I live, there are two things a white, middle-aged, male are forbidden to have: a job and a date (as in GF).
Keeping a good thought for the success of your production.

Hey, thanks, man! Yeah, N.E. Ohio is where I'm originally from. In fact, YSU (the school I'm a fan of lol) did this show back in November, but I didn't get to see it. There's a bootleg of it on YouTube somewhere, I'm told...

Gave a cursory search but found nothing; typical for me - I can google "Raquel Welch" images and get a nice pic of "Granny" from The Beverly Hillbillies. Just bad at searches.
I'll keep an eye peeled; will be interested in how things go.

Just thought I'd update here... The show went over really good, despite me having almost no voice by the last night lol.

What's the show about? You said there is a villain, so I'm guessing there is a superhero or something.
Posted by Toetapper (Member # 6473) on :
Part of the reason the show went so well is that you gave it your ALL; so, of course, you'd have little voice left for the last night (but I'd bet you still kicked just fine).
So glad to hear your good news. So...what's next?

To ftLcker26, its a very funny, clever comedy about a 17-year-old London boy named Bobby Strong who starts a revolution when a greedy businessman, Cladwell (that's me lol) gets a law passed mandating people to pay in order to go to the bathroom. People who go without paying are sent to a mysterious deathcamp called Urinetown, & are never seen or heard from again. Bobby inspires the peasents of London to revolt against me & my company, the UGC (Urine Good Company-get it? lol). Also in the plot, Bobby falls in love with my teenage daughter, Hope. To toetapper Thanks, man! Well, the theatre's next show is a rock musical called "Bat Boy", & "Urinetown"'s director is also doing this show, & wants me to go out for Dr. Parker, the main villian. Can you say "typecasting"? lol jk.

Sounds like you're swingin' a "hot bat". I'll be interested to hear what happens the next time you're at the plate.
