Are any of you unemployed and receiving unemployment benefits? I am on my 3rd the FED-ED extension. When that runs out, how much more do we get on the 4th extension? Is it 14 weeks or 20 weeks? It's so confusing, I thought all states get at least 14 weeks, and any state with an unemployment rate of over 8.5% will get 20 weeks.

I'm on EI..in Canada though, and for my claim I receive 47 weeks. They base it upon how many hours/weeks you have worked and also how much money you earn as well to determine how much money to disperse to you every two weeks...is that how it works in the US?

I'm not certain about how it's done in other states but here in Fl. we get a set weekly amount ($275.00) regardless of what your weekly pay check was. Normally it only lasts for up to 26 weeks and then you can apply for a 13 week extension for a total of 39 weeks. (I think) Then your S.O.L. Right now we're on the third "Emergency Extension" provided by the government. This is the first time I've been on unemployment since I started working in 1974. I'm currently living on about 1/4 of what I used to earn. It sucks, but it keeps the lights on and I sure appreciate that.
