This has been the slogan of Jack T. Chick for over 40 years in his publishing ventures. So, the question is, who here knows about his books?

Here is the offical Chick Tract site, and in particular the page where you can read pretty much all the tracts that are still in print for free:
Chick tracts
If you do some searching around, you can read some special order only tracts that you can't find just anywhere, and then, if you go into the non-English pages, you can see tracts made exclusively for other countries.

I have been collecting these little gospel tracts for over 15 years. My first two were given to me by my cousin, who picked them up in a bakery one Sunday morning. They were:
The Assignment
and
Hi There!

These little comics have a lot of appeal to me, and surprisingly, their appeal is shared by a lot of others. For example, just look at this site:
Jack T. Chick Museum of Fine Art

I always sort of viewed these little free books as a guilty pleasure. I personally think Jack Chick is way off in some of his fundamental ideas on Christianity, but his comics were always a thrill to find lying somewhere in public.

That's the thing about these books, they're supposed to be left for people to find, then taken home, read, and hopefully inspires the reader to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. The flip-side of their actual intent has gotten way out of hand.

If you peruse the tracts, it'll become clear early on that Jack Chick is a sucker for a good conspiracy theory. On the other hand, he's also a real rebel who will draw what he wants come hell or high-water. He's caught flack from everybody, from the Catholic church, to the Mormons, to the Jehovah's Witnesses, to even the Gay Rights organizations.

I've also learned that just recently, some out-of-print Chick Tracts have been sold on e-bay for as high as $100 each! I have kicked my own ass after hearing that, because at one point in time, I owned some tracts that have gone the way of the dodo bird.

Anyway, before I ramble all night about Jack Chick, does anybody else know about his comics? Better still, does anybody like to read and collect these little books?

Oh boy, Jack Chick is going to piss off the homosexuals again! *heh heh* [Big Grin]

Check out this new and cool little comic with some awesome art by Fred Carter (one of my favorite artists by the way) :
Birds and the Bees

This tract actually pulls a lot of punches, especially compared to some of the more inflamatory tracts he's written up against homosexuality. This is the third tract released featuring the cute little Christian girl Suzy Barnes as Jack's mouth-piece character, and the second one featuring the liberal substitute teacher Ms. Henn as Suzy's "adversary".

The Lil' Suzy tracts are obviously aimed at reaching children, but this seems a little nutty when you look at the Brids and Bees tract. Why? Well, look at the scene where Sodom get's destroyed. How do you like that fireball busting through that homo's chest? Not really something most kids should see, IMO, but I could be wrong I guess...

Anyway, the more inflamatory tracts that has got Jack Chick in some serious trouble with queers (and I'm talking lawsuits here) are:
The Gay Blade
&
Doom Town

Doom Town has recently got a revamp and edit, I'm guessing so it could sound more kind and less insidiary to gay people. I'm lucky enough to have got the original print before it got recalled, and very recently got the revamp version to be able to compare the two. So little was changed I don't see why he bothered.

Anyway, hope this ain't too tacky bumping my own topic. I think you folks will get a kick out of these little tracts whether you're religious or not, especially if you already like looking at art and comics like I do.

Happy reading. [Cool]

I remember finding those horrible comics in public restrooms, phone booths, etc. My favorite one is "Dark Dungeons" the one that tells of the evil of the game Dungeons & Dragons. Totally hilarious!

Yeah, Dark Dungeons was a good one. Hard to take seriously, but a fun read. Like I say, Jack Chick is a sucker for a conspiracy theory, and it seems like his logic is: "If you enjoy something, chances are Satan's behind it." [Laugh]

Dark Dungeons

This tract has gotten lampooned pretty good by some folks out there on the internet. Just run a search on Dark Dungeons, and some parodies come up. Some are down-right hilarious. [Big Grin]

The thing that get's me about the Dark Dungeons tract was the artwork. Fred Carter's art kicked ass in it, as is usually the case with his art, but get a load of the Dungeon Master Ms. Frost. I don't know about you, but if I thought a babe-o-rama like her was running a D&D campaign somewhere, I'd be hunting down that group to join up! I used to play D&D myself years back, and never once did a hottie on the calibur of Ms. Frost ever grace a game. Matter of fact, I don't recall ANY girls ever taking a shine to the D&D sessions me and my buddies and cousins used to have. [Laugh]

So what kind of message are they trying to send here? "Hey kids, you risk losing your soul to Satan if you get involved in this geeky game, but look at the babe running it!" [Roll Eyes] [Laugh]

Glad to see somebody else here familiar with these cool little tracts. [Thumbs Up]
