A buddy of mine recently asked me " If your not gay, what in the world could you get from watching well conditioned men grab on each other for 4 hours?"

What would you say?

Real men are not afraid to manhandle each other for glory, money, and ego. Seriously, that's about what it comes down to. It is what it is.

Why, what sort of sports, if any, does your buddy like?

None really, he finds them meaningless, says no matter who wins he still has to go to work tomorrow.

i think it takes a gay man to see sex when he watches a football game

Co-sign. Sports is life. Non-interest is teh gheyness. Manly men swing big sticks at little balls, run into each other at full speed, and try to knock each other's brains in with oversized mitts.

I just want to start this out with I agree. I love sports but no aurguments given so far that would sway anyone who didnt already agree.

Thats what men do? Not a very stirring aurgument.
Some men kill, some men rape, some men steal, but "thats what men do" is not an excuse for it. It gives it neither positive or negative merrits.

With out being able to give the excuse "thats what men do" why watch sports?

ask your friend what he gets from watching a movie

they too are meaningless and he will still have to go to work the day after

no movie can create the drama of a sporting event, especially the playoffs

if he has watched games and still doesn't like them, there is no argument that will sway him the other way

myabe if the hometown team goes on a championship run can make him a fan

i live in pittsburgh and when the penguins went on their run to the finals last season many people in pittsburgh who never even watched hockey became fans

also tell him that not watching football will make him appear gay to many women because most women nowadays watch football, don't forget this is the guy that sees sex when watching football so maybe... [Wink]

Tell your friend that competitive sports is an extension of man's desire to dominate. Whether we like it or not we are a violent species and by watching or competing in sporting events we are releasing that pent up aggression thru a form that doesn't force us to kill one another. Then we can all safely go to work the next day. (unless you work at the post office) [Joint]

GO STEELERS!!!!!! [Cheers]
