Ok, the wide spread use of shoes seems to hve come abot in the past couple of centuries. I know I myself have a fetish for pretty well cared for non smelling feet. Is it safe to assume that in locations or time periods where all of these criterion aren't met the foot fetish doesn't exist? I wonder if in 3rd world countries where people don't wear shoes, if people still have foot fetishes? Hmmm? Even the foot binding thing in china was isolated to those that could afford shoes.

Apparently in ancient Egypt there were people with foot fetishes...

Seems to me that in parts of the world where people are more likely to go barefoot, more men would be attracted to women's feet, simply because they can see them more often.

I found this from 1926:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/49/Martin_van_Maele_-_La_Comtesse_au_fouet_01.jpg

According to Wikipedia:

"Researchers have hypothesized that foot fetishism increases during epidemics of sexually transmitted diseases. In one study, the frequency of foot-fetish depictions in the mass-circulation pornographic literature was measured over a 30-yr. interval. An exponential increase was noted during the period of the current AIDS epidemic. Increased interest in feet as sexual objects has also been observed during the syphilis epidemics of the 16th and 19th centuries in Europe."

Which hints that it's not a modern thing and that it probably does occur in 3rd world countries.

Thanks alice, you're so wonderful. Of course it's not just modern, it's been around for ever, will continue being around. What i found extremely interesting about this article is how its posted that it seems to arise more predominately when there's an STD epidemic going on. I've always found it to be one of my re-enforcing points of my fetish. I'm not worried about contracting herpes or aids, or some other std from a girls feet.

Very interesting.

King Solomon felt the need to mention it briefly in the Bible. Check it out:

How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman.
-Song of Solomon 7:1 (KJV)

So I think it's safe to say that this particular writing has been around a looooooong time. [Cool]

Some scientists have proven that the part of the brain that controls the sexual organs and the part for the feet are next toeach other. The reason for the fetish is a cross-conect between the two. Misfirings, if you will.

So, us foot fetishists are wired this way.

So, as long as their has been a human brain I'm sure there have been foot fetishes.

Also worth mentioning are pheromones.

According to scientists, our bodies give off pheromones that human noses can detect. While pheromones aren't actual scents of the body, they can result in an aroused sexual response from humans of the opposite sex. Pheromones are secreted and given off by various parts of the body, including feet.

I think back in primitive times, there were many things that attracted males and females to each other that would be considered "gross" by today's society, feet being one of them.

dougiezerts, I think it's just the opposite. The more mysterious the object, the more alluring. Which is why in the days of long, multi-layered dresses, undergarments, and higher completely enclosed shoes, the flash of a woman's ankle was considered provocative. However, in societies where feet are always out there, they are not considered anything special, any more so than, say, hands or noses. I think it's another reason why breasts are so attractive to so many in our culture. In everyday life they are mostly hidden with perhaps only a teasing bit of cleavage showing.

That does make sense.
It occurs to me, how did men approach the subject of feet to their ladies, in those days?
"My darling, we'll be getting married in a few weeks, so I have a special favor to ask of you: Would you allow me to look at your feet?"

Just imagine living back in the 1700's!! No flip flops to enjoy or "malls" to gawk at all the hot peds! There is times when I would LOVE to live back then...but then I quickly snap back to reality and realize that I have it pretty good in this day and age with all the feet readily available to me! [Big Grin]

Nothing is really new under the sun... We aren't only ones who have discovered America... we have been around for few long days [Wink] . Great pearl diving folks. This gives us more legs to stand and hold our ground in the chaotic storm of confusion with people who don't know. Again, we are just too darn cool for the masses. [Cool] [Cheers]

Thank you, the two of you, that's the greatest. I've been tryin to point this out for i have no idea how long. I don't know how many times i've read or heard in scientific readings/shows that B.0. on it's own puts out plenty of Pheromones...B.O. being body odor caused by sweat, etc. So, get real everybody. And as ashefichi said about the brain, it's a discovery channel special, it's been posted here before, i think you could probably find it on youtube. Whether or not it's as explained as a "missfire" situation, or a lack of separation in the brain walls, what ever. Just like ADD or ADHD, or any other silly little "disorder" people can come up with names for. They've all existed since time began, and will continue to. Though my take on "ADD/ADHD" is just a large lack of discipline and ass kicking haha, i don't think you heard much of that back in the day, but hey that might explain billy the kid.
Sorry for the rantings today, it's another early (late to me and my 3rd shift) morning with triple x Molson!
