I was wondering if anyone knew of a way, or a program, that would allow me to take snapshots from video or a video clip on my computer. None of the clip-playing programs I currently have allow me to do it. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with footspy. Don't use WinDVD coz you can't screenshot from it. Screendumps (CTRL or ALT + PrtScr) don't work either. PowerDVD is the best I've come across for taking vidcaps, but the quality of the still is passable but not crystal, since Hi-Def DVDs are to my knowledge not yet supported properly.

"Windows Movie Maker" - comes standard with most systems these days. If you don't have it, you can get it (for free I believe) on the Windows website.

VLC is brilliant for that, its a media player, simply play the clip then right click and go to snapshot, bingo there it is.

GOMplayer is pretty good. It let's you play the videos, pause them and take individual screencaps. The pictures are so precise that you can make an animated gif from the video if you have that kind of software (but that's another story)
