So What is your I.D Name/Handle and how did you come up with it? [Smile]

I came up with mine to reflect my Salvadoran and Irish heritage...well, pseudo-Irish anyway, my stepdad is Irish, and I've grown up with him and his whole family and all the Irish traditions since I was 5. So for all intents and purposes, I more grew up Irish than actually being Irish.

I came up with my name a couple years give or take before I got on the internet (and I got online back in '97).

Back when I was trying to be a comic book artist, and submitted a lot of work to all kinds of editors, more often than not I found myself shooting for the undergrounds because I liked the, for lack of a better word, freedom you could have with both the stories and the art in those kinds of books. I've never really liked American-style superheroes, so I had no desire to get hooked up with Marvel or DC. As such, since I wanted to do underground comics, a lot of the types of stories from these small and independant presses got really controversial and sometimes even offensive. I didn't want any special interest groups harrassing my folks over anything that I might've done (and believe you me, some of that shit I put on paper back then I am royally ashamed of now), so I knew I needed an alias.

I mentioned earlier that spandex wearing superheroes never really excited me, and the reason being is that I grew up on Japanese superheroes. What's the first thing you think of when you start talking about movies out of Japan? Godzilla of course, but I wanted to get even more hardcore traditional (read that as "nerdy"), and went with Godzilla's untranslated name, Gojira.

I have to admit something else too: In the unlikely event that I ever did get published (and I got some of my work into print believe it or not, all 900 or so of you folks worldwide who may have seen it), I didn't want to share any "fame" I might've got with my father by using the family name. My dad never supported me on anything I felt strongly about...so the decision to use an alias was two-fold...protect the family, and to distance the family at the same time. Sounds hard I know, and to my dad's credit he's lightened up over the years, and I have too, so the animosity is pretty small now...

Anyway, the ironic thing about using the alias, is that when I got a pretty big story published in an underground horror rag called The Shadow Show...a very adult comic book to say the least...my folks were actually hurt that the family name wasn't attached to the book when they saw it! Here you had a book that drifted between "Hard R" and "Triple X" ratings, and they wanted the family name to be in it! I'll never figure that out...

So when I started posting on message boards back in '97, I was all geared up to use the name "Samhain" as a handle, because at the time Glenn Danzig was my hero (my how times change). Another guy beat me to it on the particular message board and had the name taken, so I went with my "artist" name instead, and just sort of stuck with it ever since.

I actually have a lot of snail-mail still coming in from people addressing it to Lou Gojira...that's just what they've come to know me by...and truth be told I answer to that name just as quickly as I do my real one.

So there you have it...sorry for the long story. [Cool]

I love HAL, the evil computer in Stanley Kubrick`s "2001 - A Space Odyssey". I think it is one of the greatest movies ever made (especially for it`s time...it`s from 1968) and I´ve been a sci-fi fan since my earliest childhood.
Plus my real name sounds very similar [Wink]

If you haven`t watched the movie...my avatar is also taken from that --- it`s the computer`s sentinel eye.

I used the screen name "Lord Wolff" back in the early 90's many years before using LeDaemon as my current one. I created LeDaemon as a fake screen name when I was on AOL to prank a friend of mine from work back in '95 or so as a one time deal. I e-mailed and IMed him as LeDaemon to get him paranoid that there were evil diabolical persons out to get him. It was funny because he would message back to the Lord Wolff screen name to tell me there was someone out to get him. I told him it was me a couple of days later. Just a few years ago I decided to retire Lord Wolff in place of the LeDaemon title as my full time screen name.

lou... i like you long post... but i won't elaborate why here.. not necessary.

my name is a combo name. a combo of interests. I love women in high heels. I love high powered cars... namely v8's. and i love seeing women drive such cars in high heels. i also love motor sports and the racing series that most caught me is IndyCars. (granted since their split.. they fell off the map so to speak). but i love the sound of the engines (saw a race this weekend and brought back memories of younger 'better' years)

anyway.. i love women who skillfully drive in high heels(the higher the better).. and i love women's feet (esp hosed feet). and if such a gal is stuck in the snow, mud, sand, ice, or whatever... i love being her hero and watching her feet work the pedals (with or without the heels)... which usually means some serious reving of the motor .. and that pure v8 sound i so much love.

but at the time.. i didn't want a handle that showed my love of feet or heels of a woman.. i wasn't too comfy wiht that part of me.. and at the same time.. most wouldn't assume seeing the handle that i enjoyed v8' driven by women in various low traction setting as well as everyday situations.

so.. RPM (for the sound of a high reved v8 motor) and Indy (for the cars that have that ideal v8 high rev sound I so love)

hence.. RPMindy.. but then.. RP Mindy came of it.. thus further concealing what i was really into.. but let to much explaining of things. for example.. some folks don't know that rpm means revolutions per minute.. which is how you measure engine speeds. so.. when i say i love teh sound of a v8 doing 14,000 rpm's most don't get it unless they understand cars.

so.. that is the story behind my name. you want an ideal fantasy for me.. get a gorgeous babe in 6 inch heels driving a huge v8 rear wheel drive car after a long day at work in heels.. she gets stuck in her driveway and has to 'struggle' to make it in.. i come to her rescue.. she spins a lot.. makes it.. i assist her to her living room.. she's so thankful, but her feet are so tired.. i take off her heels (savor immensely the aroma)... massage her feet.. she's so happy.. she asks me not to stop the massage but work my way up and have my way with her in the process. now.. that is what i'm talking about.

of course.. when that is all said and done.. we're both butt naked.. and we start over fromt the bottom and work my way back up again.. over and over..

then.. when it's time to go.. she puts her hose.. heels.. and of course cloths.. to drive me back to my place. gets super stuck again.. and the whole scene repeats itself when we do finally make it to my place!!

that is the fantasy behind the name!!!! RPMindy!!!!!!!

Mine's from an old nickname my Grandfather gave me. I have no idea what it means, but it stuck. My dad and I share the same first name, so they called my dad by his real name, and they called me by my nickname "Bondo".

My middle name is Coners (yes, with one n). Z instead of S because when I made it originally I was young enough to think that made my name look cooler. This is one of the screen names i have used from waaaaay back in the day when I 1st got AOL. Its kind of dumb of me since Ive never been comfortable giving out personal info on the web, paranoid that I am, but it stuck. The end.

Mine was used on a football related (New York Giants) forum, as a pun. One giant leap, One "Giant" leap.

Since then, I've just made it my universal forums around the net screenname, to keep things simple and easy to remember.
