i work loss prevention at a local walmart sometimes i use to cctv to zoom in on feet do u guys think thats wrong or a good idea

I think it's a cool idea, but there is one scenario i can think of which may make it a bad idea.

I'd wager that they are digitally recording every channel simultaneously and 24/7. If a crime... or more likely an accident... occurs within sight of the camera you were using at the time they'll review footage from that camera. they then may wonder why there's some girl's feet on screen and not some kind of video evidence that could save them a law suit. If it loses them money or causes them grief they'll see who was on the clock at the time that has access to the cameras. they'll check the tapes from other days that the same employees were on duty. by process of elimination they'll determine who did it.

will anyone care enough to do this...probably not, because there's no incentive for management to go through the trouble, as a law suit isn't money out of their pocket and walmart isn't paying them enough to care, besides they are all overworked anyway. that doesn't mean they wouldn't delegate this mind-numbing task to a loss prevention guy who wasn't on the clock the day of the accident or crime. that guy has more incentive to lie and say he didn't find anything because then he looks like a good employee that follows orders...without having to do any work.

Though we'd all be tempted to do the same thing, I agree with ozkar- I think you're taking a big chance with your employment.

I've read news articles before about the security guys manning cameras getting canned for zooming in on shopper's breasts and ass rather than potential shoplifters. I just wouldn't spend your entire work day doing that.

I think that's a wonderful idea, but you must take into consideration that others look at the tape too. I used to work for a company that services Wal-Mart, and I looked at feet of customers and associates all the time. It's a wonder a lasted as long as I did with the company.
