In the October 2006 issue of Men's Health, a chart is shown about particular things a man might do on the third date including things such as 'He wants to hear all about your latest breakup.' (that one netting a 3/10, On the upper-end of the scale, things such as 'He tells embarrassing stories about his childhood,' and 'he asks how your career is going' both rating at an 8/10 [the higher spectrum of the scale is underscored by the statement "We're really clicking," and the lower end of the things states: "This is going nowhere." The statement is mentioned 'he wants details about your pedicure.' That one is on the this-is-going-nowhere end of the scale with a 2/10. In general, it looks like if you want to talk feet you've gotta wait through a few more dates.

Though I'm not dating, this is good advice for those that are.

Does Men's Health say that it's OK to compliment the lady on her feet, on an early date? [Smile]

That's pretty reasonable advice. I couldn't care less about the details of her pedicure. I just care about the end result.

And does any rational guy think this topic of conversation would help their chances in a relationship that's just starting out?

The number 1 thing to do is keep her speaking about herself. You can answer question about your life but keep it reasonably short and always tie it back to a question about her. Than say something corny like "you have an interesting life" or something stupid like it, and she'll eat it up. The fact that a guy is so interested in her...

A lot they know, you should be fucking by the 3rd date, so pedicure conversation should be pretty tame by then.

All those men's health, men's muscle mags all seem a little gay to me anyway. Filler articles around pics of sweaty guys working out. So I would take any guy advice with a grain of salt.

I think the angle they’re taking on it is; “If you’re asking about were she gets he toes painted she probably thinks you want to know so you can get yours done too.”

Personally, I wear noticeable heels almost daily I would be a little miffed at a guy if by the third date if he hadn’t said something about them/my feet.

I hope that's what it meant, because I interpreted it as the girl not liking a guy spending so much focus on her feet.

Bingo! Exactly! It is all about her in the beginning....

I just find it amusing that a magazine written by men for men is giving out "expert advice" about what to say/do when on a date with a woman.... Kind of makes me wonder if they're really "experts" on the topic.

I've always had the suspicion that a lot of them are basically thinly disguised gay porn. Seriously do they really think any hetero guy wants to buy magazines with pictures of other men in speedos gracing the front cover? That would ruin your chances of getting some far more than complimenting a girl's pedicure.

I read bodybuilding magazines. it can be used for workout tips and some guys actually admire the phsyiques the same way a person admires a painting. It's only gay if you want it to be gay. How having a bodybuilding magazine would ruin your chances with a girl i'll never know. I think most would be more upset if their guy had hustler magazine.

also i'll take advice on how to get women from guys before i'll take it from women

most women will say "i just want a nice guy that will treat me with respect" yet these same women have a douchebag for a boyfriend
