reading another topic here today about whether we prefer going barefoot, i suddenly remembered when i was probably 4 and in kindergarten, we had a japanese day where we celebrated the japanese culture. i remember wearing a robe and brinigng my flipflops and when it was time to put them on, i flipped. i didnt want to take my socks off and have my feet bare so everyone could see them. they tried like crazy to get me to do it, but i just refused and ended wearing them with socks. ok, weird i know lol but i also know that i used to feel kinda exposed whenever i was barefoot in public like i was sorta semi-nude.

anyone else ever feel this way?

My son had a severe hissy fit the first time we tried to put sandals on him, but he was only 2 or 3 years old, so I'm pretty sure there was no concern about other people seeing his feet. He just didn't like the feel of it.

i was told that while growing up.. i wasn't too keen on getting dressed down. i feel it's because of the high expectations from strict parents. i was told i didn't like to be bare feet a lot.. but.. there were moments where I didn't seem to care and would go explore the whole world bare foot.

also.. as a child.. on a few 'expeditions' i'd get things stuck in my foot (glass..nail..rock...thorns).. the stuff you can get in your foot when you grow up in very rural third country places.

the one thing no-one could figure.. i hated when someone tried to remove whatever it was.. didn't want to go to the hospital.. didn't want my dad to touch.. didn't too much mind the sitter.. but hated it.

in fact.. so much so.. i usually was the one who took a mirror to put on the floor.. and with twizzers, razor, and scissors, i'd go after the offensive object myself. killed my dad to see, but that was my quirk.

still is to this day. if i step on a piece of glass... i go after it myself. (that happens so rarely.. i don't worry about it)

man.. you guys are taking me back with these threads.

but back on topic.. in first grade.. i had a thing for the teacher we had. she was young, very pleasing to the eye (don't think at that age i knew what attractive was). but her shoe collection and the fact she was bare feet often (with and without hose).. that much i remmeber clearly. not much else about first grade.. just her legs and her feet and her long blonde hair.
