What if bare feet become the new fashion trend of 2008? Perhaps one, or two, designers would come out with clothing lines specifically designed to be worn by barefooted girls. And a few female celebrities would enforce it by being seen shoeless in public--at nice restaurants/clubs, perhaps. OK, bare feet might be a little too outrageous! But maybe barefoot sandals will be the next trend. Can any of you guys see this happening, or is this just wishful thinking on might part?

I remember seeing a girl out in public a couple of months ago and she was barefoot...she was walking around in a public area where there was a lot of people, she was with two other friends but she happened to be the hottest one, her feet looked gorgeous with blue toenail polish....I made sure I bumped into her a few times but I couldn't find myself to say anything with her two friends being there they would think i was a sick perv, i have also never complimented a women on her feet in public, that is soo hard for me to do out of fear of what they would think of me

Girls barefoot at a nice club/restaurant, etc... Let us not forget the NO SHIRT NO SHOES NO SERVICE policy. So to be barefoot in any of those places would probably be a no-no. But the sandal's idea would be great. But uhh, there's plenty of things fashioned in fashion shows specifically for the flip flop/sandal wearing type of girls. And plenty of things that are already available to be worn and made so that they only look decent in a pair of flip flops, or revealing footwear.

Barefoot outside in public is one thing, but because of public health rules, I don't think seeing them inside (in clubs and restaurants) will happen until many of us foot fetishists become Public Health Care Administrators.
It's interesting but I've never really understood the "no bare feet" inside restaurants especially. We don't eat off the floor!
Another eye-opener was a Wife Swap show last week.One of the couples lived in the mid-west, totally self sufficiently. They never washed their hands, cleaned or sanitized anything in their house AND ate raw meat. None of them had ever even gottent seriously ill. Kind of makes you wonder then how much of this "clean and sanitize" stuff is nothing but marketing.

It does exist in some places like the beach or Bryant Park, I wish it would exist in school. Like a girl just walking to class barefoot and staying in class barefoot, we can only dream.

that reminds me of george carlin talking about germs.his angle being,if you dont get the little germs and beat them,when the big ones come along youre worse off
personally im afraid i would miss out on any barefoot in public.i kind of strive for the opposite direction in keeping my feet soft and smooth.im not claiming this is best though,just for me.

So you wouldn't be willing to go barefooted in public, Mona? Pitty! I guess you're all right; the "no shirt, no shoes, no service" rule would prevent a lot of ladies from making a fashion statement out of their bare feet. But what about thise idea: A female celeb attends a public event wearing sandals. A few minutes after she arrives, she takes them off, and stays barefooted until she leaves, that evening. Long enough for the press and the fashion police to make a fuss over it.

I fear that this is a dream that will go unfulfilled for some time to come. If my read on current fashion trends is somewhat accurate, the shoes will be closed-toe (with an exaggerated point) and a very high heel that will gradually shrink while more of the foot is covered. We have been very lucky, for the last couple of years, to have had the foot-revealing fashions that we have seen. I'm afraid that it will be a while before they return. Hope I'm completely wrong on this. On the upside...flip-flops aren't going away anytime soon. Good news for some, fetish-type pumps are likely to be in vogue. So much for the report from Raoul of Bayonne.

Our luck, it would be a bad fuss about it. You know how woman are, and seein as the nsnsns policy goes, they'd probably be labeled as dirty or something. But if not, and it went over well, that'd be cool. But i'm more with mona on the idea that i like my girl to be wearing atleast flipflops. I do atleast bi weekly pedicures on those, and i appreciate my girls feet to be nice and smooth and soft. And i'm not too into the whole dirty feet thing either. But i can see how those who are would be thrilled by this idea. Besides, alot of girls do go out to bars and restaurants in heels, flip flops, pumps, etc...And they do pretty much end up barefoot, but mostly not walking around. Take note of the girls in flip flops, even in a place of dining, they generally flip them off and then cross their legs indian style, or even prop them up in the opposite seat of the booth. And if girls went completely barefoot, it'd kill off all the dangling! (depends on who all takes to it) And feet would be hard, dirty, and calloused for ever. hehe

An excellent point Mona, that although running around barefoot most or all the time might be sensuous and alluring, after a time your feet would build up a thick callous layer on the bottom. I know this from working at swimming pools during the summers when I was in high school and college. I could not believe how think my soles built-up after a summer of walking around the concrete pool deck and blacktop all summer.
I think the key here though is that although "fashion" can denote taking things away or baring body parts (like a bare midriff), it's usually still a part of or accented by other things. The most extreme example would be a girl totally naked. Though you could call that a fashion statement, most people would not, whereas a nude woman scantilly wrapped in a scarf could/would be. Get my drift?
Consequently, the most extreme we're going to go with feet is probably the barefoot sandals (ones that stick on your feet without the thongs) or footlets (the anklets with an attachment that goes down to the second toe). In other words, there would have to be something on the foot, no matter how little, for it to be called a fashion statement. Hope that makes sense...
