"Scarlet Street" 1945 with Edward G. Robinson, believe it or not. E.G. does NOT play a gangster in it either, he is a middle-aged man who fancies himself a painter and hooks up with some "fast woman" played by Joan Bennett. There is a scene where she is painting her toenails and he keeps begging to paint her portrait, instead, she raises her foot and says, "then paint me, they'll be masterpieces".... That's the kind of scene that stands out! ned
